Eagle River, Wisconsin International Snowmobile Hall of Fame
Founded in 1984 by Elmer Cone of Bovey, Minnesota, the International Snowmobile Hall of Fame (ISHOF) is on display inside the World Snowmobile Headquarters in Eagle River, Wisconsin. Since its founding, over 125 individuals representing both the recreational and industry side of snowmobiling have been inducted into this prestigious Hall of Fame. They represent trail developers, volunteers, journalists, promoters, industry, adventurers, legislators, club founders and others who have given tremendous amounts of dedication to the sport of snowmobiling. They are the true foundation of the sport. Without them, snowmobiling would not have become the premier winter sport that it is today. Each year, a selected few are inducted to the Hall. A few are well known; Most are known only in their local area, state or province. Here at the HQ, they are all showcased with the honor they so deserve.
The International Snowmobile Hall of Fame is dedicated to recognizing the men and woman who have made snowmobiling what it is today. From a leisurely weekend activity to national winter pastime, the sport of snowmobiling is continually growing. From snowmobile trails, weekend attractions, fund raising activities, to tournaments, many state, county and local communities are now adding snowmobile associated activities to help enhance this winter sport.
The first annual International Snowmobile Hall of Fame induction and awards ceremony was held in 1989 in Grand Rapids, Minnesota. ISHOF continues to salute pioneering members of the snowmobile community each year for their role in the Snowbelt's favorite sport.
The International Snowmobile Hall of Fame was founded to promote and preserve the historical aspects of snowmobiling to include recognition of individual achievements made on behalf of the sport.
Each year, nominations of candidates to the International Snowmobile Hall of Fame are made under one or more of these categories:
- Inventors, Designers & Manufacturers
